Analyzing from the energy loss of the ore grinding process of ball grinding mill, the key points of saving energy should be put in the improvement of the grinding efficiency of grinding balls on ores, which means transforming the mechanical energy of grinding balls to the surface energy of final products, and we can also adjust the parameters on the level conducive to the crushing process to get the effect of energy conservancy. Seen from the process of steel balls crushing ores, to realize energy conservancy of ball mill grinder, we can consider from the following aspects:

1. Random crushing of grinding balls

The feature of random crushing of grinding balls leads low crushing probability of ball mill machine, and the energy loss in the crushing process will be high. In the process of steel balls rotating together with the cylinder in the falling process, the crushing effect of steel balls on ore particles may be impact crushing or squeezing crushing and grinding crushing or their compound effect. The crushing effect of grinding balls is random because the falling or rolling of steel ball may hit ore particles, and may not. Even though steel balls hit ore particles; whether there is crushing behavior is also random.

2. Influence of the size of grinding media on grinding process

The grinding action is realized by grinding media, so that the size of grinding media has a great influence on the grinding process. If the grinding balls are too large, the crushing times will be fewer, and over big crushing force will have throughout crushing, and at the same time, the grinding area will be small, so that the grinding capacity of grinding balls will be weak. If the grinding balls are too small, the crushing energy will be insufficient, and when it cannot realize one-time crushing, the deformation energy on ore particles will have elastic recovery, so that the energy will be lost. When ore particles are crushed for many times and reach fatigue limit, they can also be crushed, but the crushing probability is very low. When the ball diameter is suitable for ore granularity, the effect of crushing force will be precise, which can reduce energy consumption and increase the dissociation selectivity of minerals at the same time.

3. Abrasion of steel balls

On the condition of sufficient crushing force, we should try to reduce the size of steel balls because too large steel balls have no good, which can not only reduce ore grinding efficiency, but increase steel consumption and electricity consumption. To improve the ore grinding efficiency, we should grasp the key link of grinding media, optimize the media system of ball grinder and adjust the media parameters to optimum level to get the best energy-saving effect.
