The new type wear-resistant materials are the backbone of crushing machine. In 1982, the high manganese steel was first introduced. After certain processing, under high impact load and compression stress, the surface of mechanical parts would be hardened. The high manganese steel was mainly used on gear plate in jaw crusher and cones and hammers in cone crusher then. The high manganese steel was thus called the first generation anti-wear material. With the development of crushing equipment industry, more and more problems emerged one after another, such as the demand for expansion of crushing field and longer durability, etc. The development of industry therefore put more demands on abrasion-resistant materials.
In about 1930, the Ni-hard cast iron appeared whose hardness could reach up to HRC55-60. As the second generation anti-abrasion material, since it was brittle, it could only be used for small components, such as rotating blades, etc. Besides, due to the limitation in nickel, the material was rarely used.
We generally choose imported high wear resistance materials in high-end equipment manufacturing on account of the rich alloy content, good fluidity, low shrinkage and poor thermal conductivity. Consequently, we adopt the progressive solidification in the process of designing castings. The heavy type castings like hammer and board are treated with special casting method. At present, the nation-wide research is being carried out continuously. It is known that high toughness martensite and austenite cast steel are expected to become the new generation anti-abrasion materials. Once the materials are applied, the development of impact crusher will be greatly quickened.
